Newest Update

Journal entry by Rebecca Keiser

Moments of clarity

I haven't been able to update because of lack of information from the hospital and mixed information from mom at the time. For a few days I was honestly scared that she might have had a stroke. Her speech was so irregular I was crying on the phone scared if she would come out of it. Two days ago, was one of the clearest conversations I've had with her in over a week plus. There were very few "cloudy" moments. More of her trying to organize her thoughts and write down things she'd like to ask for. That's her fighting hard!!
From what I gather her antibiotics stopped this week. Everyone has to understand, for me every day I call it's a new nurse or new doctor and there doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency. I have to to explain her situation again and again. So to me.. this is what it's been like, I ask questions and I get the same answers I've had since day 2 minus a few new details. If they've once again taken away her liquids or given them back. Her pain levels that seem to be quite high lately, and her mental state.

TODAY... She is able to eat. I just spoke to her and she was eating cereal and getting a diet Pepsi. This is huge!! She sounds great and I can't say how happy this makes me. I believe she is starting to feel more like herself. She's still struggling with pain, but I have happy tears just to be able to hear her speak. Miracle in my eyes right there. I was so scared that she would be trapped and unable to Express herself. If you know her you understand.

As for now.. she is still in the covid wing and unable to have visitors. Counting down the days. Because I know seeing her would mean a lot to me and I cant imagine what it's like not to be able to see her loved ones. Me especially ha ha jk. :)

A special thank you to everyone who has prayed for her, with me and over her healing. Thank you to my church family for always knowing when to send a little message. And a huge thank you to mom's friends who've been AMAZING.. shes got a few that are God sent for sure. My family thanks you, and mom thanks you! There is still a long road, but I just wanted to thank you for listening to me, helping me understand and just being there. ❤ Lots of love!! Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Shes still got physical therapy to do and treatments to work towards. But she is STRONG.. and isnt in this alone.
