Rachel went into the hospital on November 24, 2021 pregnant with twin baby girls that were due on March 14,  2022. She had to go in early because of preeclampsia which is a dangerous complication characterized by spiking high blood pressure. Because Rachel’s safety and health were in jeopardy, they had to deliver the girls early on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 25 weeks.

The beautiful identical twin girl’s names are Isobel Marie Silveira and Ayana Pauline Silveira. They weighed about 1 pound each. They were whisked off to NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) where an incredible team of nurses and doctors watch over them around the clock.

On Saturday, December 4th, Rachel left the hospital as a patient and was so happy to go home where she could heal from her c-section.  Early the next day we were called to the hospital as Isobel was in distress.

Our beautiful, sweet baby Isobel passed away on Sunday, December 5th. We are heartbroken and deeply saddened.  Rachel, Jonny, Grandma Janice and Grandpa Gary were all there so she was surrounded with people who dearly loved her.

Some of you have asked about cooking or delivering a meal.  They would greatly appreciate that as they spend long days at the hospital. To coordinate, please contact janicemhuss@yahoo.com

Newest Update

Journal entry by Rachel Huss

Hello friends and family,
I thought I would share some photos and updates since today is Ayana’s 2nd birthday! It’s hard to believe. There has been so much change since I gave birth to my beautiful baby girls Isobel and Ayana. Ayana is now about 21 lbs (1 lb at birth!) and 32 inches. She loves trash. Any kind of garbage truck, taking out the trash, putting things in the trash. It’s her favorite. She loves to eat (like her mama and dada) and currently her favorite foods are guacamole, chicken and fish crackers. She doesn’t mind a little spice. She has started to throw epic tantrums when she doesn’t get her way. A true 2 year old. Her best friend is Fraser and he lives down the block. They hold hands and scream and hug to communicate. There relationship is really special. She will point out the moon to me and any variety of animals. She is so gentle and in tune with animals of all kinds. Her favorite being dogs, crows and goats.
Her lungs have done remarkably well even catching colds and covid. We are so grateful for this. Our specialists have slimmed down and we really only have to see them if something is wrong. We are very thankful for this. Being a family of the medical system, where you spend more time with doctors and nurses than friends, has come to a close. We hope that continues. Thank you for all your continued support and love. We have so needed it. Happy birthday Ayana! We will always keep you in our hearts Isobel.
