Priscilla’s Story

Site created on April 16, 2018

Our dear Priscilla has been a breast cancer survivor for the past 15 years! She was recently diagnosed with a recurrence of DCIS in the same breast. Having previously undergone a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiation, her only option for treatment is a mastectomy. Priscilla has elected to have a bilateral mastectomy to reduce her risk of recurrence over her lifetime down to 5%. She will have a DIEP Flap reconstruction on Friday, April 27th at the Mayo Clinic, here in Jacksonville. The procedure will last 12+ hours with a five day hospital stay.
The recovery will be long and difficult, but with the love, prayers and support from family and friends we know she will be able to overcome this. I have created this site to keep her loved ones up to date on her recovery during the next few months. In addition, you can leave a message of love for Priscilla to boost her spirits. Thank you!

Hello all! Priscilla's recovery is going very well. She has been given the "ok" by her doctors to resume driving and light activity. She went earlier this week to the office to stop by and let everyone know she is "back in business!" Yesterday, her and I had a fun mother/daughter-in-law outing at a children's toystore in avondale and stopped by Biscotti's for lunch. It was her first official day out and she looked wonderful!! She does still have a ways to go in the recovery process and she is looking forward to regaining complete use of her arms in 3-5 weeks. Although she is doing so well, this surgery isn't a "one and done" and there will still be some things to be done over the next year.  If you would like to reach out to Priscilla feel free to send her a text, email, card or give her a phone call! THANK YOU everyone for your prayers, thoughts and well wishes, it has meant the world to Priscilla!! :)
