Precious is an incredible person who is loved by countless people all across the world for his zest for life and ability to create and maintain amazing relationships that he truly cherishes. Please read below for his story. The journal entries will be updated daily to keep everyone informed of his journey through this process:
On Thursday September 5th, Precious was feeling disoriented at his apartment and notified the leasing office that he needed an ambulance. He was taken to Parkland Hospital where doctors performed a thrombectomy to remove a blood clot from his brain that had traveled up through his leg. As many can attest who came to visit, his recovery was a miracle and he was released on Wednesday September 18th.
On Friday September 20th, Precious was taken to the hospital again for a second stroke. They performed another thrombectomy and determined that this blood clot traveled through his artery and caused a lot more damage. After some abnormalities from his blood work, they decided to do a biopsy of his pancreas and determined that the blood clots were being caused by pancreatic cancer.
Their highest priority is treating the symptoms of the stroke by including doctors from speech, physical, and occupational departments to help reorient his brain and get normal functions working again. We will certainly learn more about his planned cancer treatment as the doctors share that information.
Both Precious and his doctors have asked for no visitors or calls until his speech improves and so he does not become overstimulated. His caregivers remind him every day how much everyone is sending their love, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time.
