Phillip’s Story

Site created on July 30, 2019

On July 18th, Phillip went to an Orthopedic doctor in order to receive an injection for persistent hip pain. While the medical team was using imaging to give Phillip a steroid injection, they detected a tumor on his pelvic bone.  Over the next couple of days, Phillip had an MRI and met with an Orthopedic Oncologist at Vanderbilt University Hospital. On July 24th, a biopsy confirmed that Phillip has Osteosarcoma (a very rare bone cancer). Phillip has 15 weeks of chemotherapy, surgery to remove the tumor, followed by another 15 weeks of chemotherapy.  We will use this CaringBridge site to keep family and friends updated along the way.
