Peter’s Story

Site created on December 27, 2021

Welcome to Peter's CaringBridge website (though most of you call him Pete). We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. Here you will find updates of his progress, test results, day-to-day thoughts and random ramblings from the mind of Peter (he's hysterical!). You too can send well wishes and reply to posts we've made.

We have been asked  by so many how they can help us so from time to time there may be a specific request or two. You can find those posts in the "Ways to Help" section.

Please feel free to share this site in any way you desire… Facebook, carrier pigeon, Goodyear Blimp, a rock through a window, the options are endless!

We truly appreciate your support and words of hope and support.

Now for the details…

WHO AM I, ASKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT:
I am Linda Preston, Peters fiancé. We met in January 2016 and became engaged December 13, 2019. He is the love of my life and it took me 50 years to find him. Our relationship is magical and being without him is not an option.

ABOUT PETER'S MAGICAL CANCER JOURNEY EXTRAVAGANZA
(Peter made me write that!)

On November 16, 2021, Peter was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer which has metastasized to his lungs, lymph nodes and esophagus. He is the most amazing man and I need him to survive; Please help him to do so! He has a lot of personal and professional goals and desperately wants to live.

Our families live in Washington state, so we don't have that in-person support from them that is so important in these times.

In healthier times, Peter enjoyed hiking, gardening, woodworking, going to live music, learning the guitar and spending time with me out and about. He is eager to get back to those activities ASAP.

Thanks for visiting!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Linda Preston

Yesterday was a devastating for both of us!!! Peter lost his medical (an other) benefits from work, which means he is now responsible for 100% of all medical expenses which are skyrocketing every day.

To top it off, my hours at work were cut to only 2 hours a day/10 hours a week. As his caregiver, I can no longer support him or us.

Peter NEEDS to stay close to his medical team here in Sandpoint and desperately need help to do so.

We may face eviction come August. With the outrageous increase in rental prices here in Sandpoint, we could never stay here near his doctors. What we now pay for a good sized home will cost triple for a small studio or 1 bedroom.

What we need is…
  • Help with medical expenses
  • Help for living expenses
  • A flexible remote work for me to help support both of us. I have an array of in-demand skills that transfer to any industry demand with great references.

Please, please, please share this site in any way you desire… Facebook, carrier pigeon, Goodyear Blimp, a rock through a window, the options are endless!
