Penny’s Story

Site created on June 24, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting Penny’s site.

Penny was diagnosed with 4th stage lung cancer 3 weeks ago on June 3rd. It has metastasized unto her bones and is all throughout her body.

She is now in the care of Hospice and they are treating her wonderfully!

As you all know, we were just packing up our house to move when all of this happened. We had bought a house in Kalispell Montana just 30 miles west of Glacier National Park.

As her wife, I am devastated. In September it will be 6 years that we have been married, but together for 8 years.

We also had to put down our little chihuahua Ricky who was 15 last Sunday June 21st.

We welcome your prayers at this time. Also please leave any comments etc and I will pass them on to Penny.

As we all know without a doubt there is no one quite like Penny. She is such a beautiful person and soul. She lights us all up with her humor, wisdom and insights.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and leave a message!

Journal entry by Penny Wood

Today Penny sleeping a lot and under heavy medication. I have some special friends here helping me. We brought in a hospital bed for more comfort and safety. A Cna
came in to sponge bath her and clean her nails.
She is not very lucid and cannot talk well, but able to answer yes or no questions sometimes.
I feel her going deeper and away from me.
My heart is despondent and ripped open.
I did not know it was possible to hurt this much.
But that is the price of loving someone so deeply.
I do thank my higher power for our love, even the difficult times.

You came
We touched
I grew
I laughed, I cried
I soared, I woke
You were gone
As quick as a hummingbird
As softly as a dandelions brush
Across my lips
Our time as short as a blink
But never to be erased
How can I forget you,
My love
You are etched in my heart
like the vessels of love
That map our life together
I will miss you everyday
I will see your smile
In the sun that peaks out
On cloudy days
Your fragrance will follow me
On lonely nights
And I will know you are at peace
I will miss you more then
100 sorrows
Or a thousand teardrops
You are my truest love
Forever
