Peggy Sue’s Story

Site created on June 15, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting!
In early May Peggy found out that one of the valves on her heart had to be replaced. This had been causing her symptoms for years, but had never been properly diagnosed. It was likely caused by strep throat, which she had quite often when she was young and then turned into rheumatic fever, causing the infection to travel to her heart valve. The solution was to replace that valve with a mechanical one.
On Wed, June 13th,  Peggy had open heart surgery and everything went really well! Recovery was a little slow as her heart had to get used to working normal for the first time in years! Peggy spent almost a week in ICU, but was finally moved to a regular room and is doing great!

Peggy Sue is doing awesome and was able to leave Rehab early and go home! As of right now, she will be staying at her mom's in Faribault until she is strong enough to go back to her house. She still has restrictions with lifting and exercise, but recovering nicely.
