Paul’s Story

Site created on March 19, 2018

At 8:30 A.M. on Sunday March 18, 2018 we received a call that no one wants to receive- Paul had been taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The ER doctor informed us that Paul had suffered a traumatic brain injury and was being rushed into emergency surgery after falling from a balcony.

The Craniectomy went well and he is currently critical but stable. He is on a ventilator because he is heavily sedated; However, they would like to take him off the ventilator within the next couple of days, since he is capable of breathing on his own. The number one priority right now, is the management of the brain swelling. Thankfully, there are no major internal injuries to organs or the spine! He does have a fractured clavicle, scapula, rib, and bruised lungs which are being monitored , but no immediate action needed since his body is resting and recovering. He does have the ability to move his arms, hands, feet, legs, and responds to stimulus- which is awesome!

He is still currently in the Neurological ICU at Harborview Medical Center here in Seattle. We are optimistic as Harborview has the number 1 Neurological team in the Pacific Northwest and have been taking great care of Paul and us!
