Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
A DONATION  IN DAD’S NAME HAS ALREADY BEEN MADE TO SUPPORT THIS SITE!

Dad had a fall Tuesday afternoon, October 30.  Mom and he were covering their new camper for the winter when Dad fell 10 feet from a ladder onto his head.  He was rushed to Baptist East ER. The CT showed he sustained five skull fractures, internal brain bleeding, two blood clots on his cerebellum and one blood clot on his frontal lobe.  After being ventilated and sent to Neuro ICU, Dad was immediately taken in to emergency surgery to reduce the swelling of his brain, drain and stop the hemorrhaging .  Dad returned to Neuro ICU just after midnight.  We will update this page  as necessary..  We ask that you use this page for updates rather than text, call, or email (there are so many  concerns, we wish to focus on Dad) We ask that you keep Dad, Mom and the rest of our family in your thoughts and prayers.

Update on Paul

As you know Paul has been home now close to 2 months. It's been almost 8 months since his accident. The brain is a big mystery and how it heals. It is a very slow process. When I brought him home I was determined this accident was not going to continue to rule our life and he was not going to give up or feel sorry for himself. I know I have been hard on him, walking him, exercising him, working 24/7 to bring him back. With Home Health therapy coming and me keeping him on a tight schedule all these months
........ for the past week I truly feel we have turned yet another corner. He is getting his dry sense of humor back (its great), he's feeding himself, walks short distances with no assistance , sits outside in his lawn chair,  in place of riding in the wheelchair i.make him walk, he's showering with some assistance, today he shaved himself, we spent 2 hours in and out of the car shopping first time today. He's  talking much more and the loneliness is beginning to fade. PROUD AND HAPPY......YES I AM! I told him today if he continues like this we will start traveling hopefully again in 6 months....he cried, I cried. Folks your prayers and grace from God has got us to this day. I'm still praying for continued great progress, strength and patience to have Paul come back to me.

Sorry so late on the update❤
