Journal entry by Paul Gillerstrom

As many of you know, I experienced a recurrence of melanoma and am undergoing immunotherapy treatment at the Chao Comprehensive Cancer at U.C. Irvine Medical Center located in Orange, California.   The plan/hope is that the Keytruda will shrink the tumor before surgery. My first infusion of Ketruda was this past Thursday, July 22.  I got to experience some of the potential side effects, cough, fatigue, back pain (more than usual ? lol) cough, loss of appetite (can I have s’more please?) did I mention cough?

I’m scheduled to have my next infusion 3 weeks from this past Thursday..  The plan is to start with 3 infusions, each three weeks apart, then surgery to remove this pesky little tangerine sized annoyance under my arm and then follow up with 14 additional infusions  after the surgery rounding out at about 12 months to destroy this thing!

I'll try my best to update my Caring Bridge journal after my next infusion, or ????????

Thank you for keeping me in your prayers!
