Paula’s Story

Site created on June 28, 2018

Hi Family and Friends!  We've started this page to keep you all updated on Paula's condition and journey.  In April 2018 Paula was diagnosed with Myelodysplasia (MDS) and also known as pre-leukemia.  The current plan is a few rounds of chemo followed by a bone marrow transplant which will take place soon in Seattle.   Please feel free to save this site to your favorites as we will be posting updates here along the way.

Journal entry by Jenn Mertlich

Hi everyone,
Mom (Paula) is hanging in there and getting ready for her next round of chemo which is set start July 30th and last for about a week.  Following that they will start to process of prepping for her bone marrow transplant.  Her immune levels are extremely low at this time and so in order to keep her as healthy as possible she has to be careful.  She's been tired and dealing with nausea but staying busy and trying to stay active.  We are so thankful for the continued support, positive thoughts and prayers.  Mom is truly touched by the outpouring of people who've registered to be bone marrow donors.  We will continue to update this site as more information is available.
