Patricia’s Story

Site created on September 29, 2021

Hello everyone and thank you for visiting my Carebridge page . As most of my friends and family know I have been battling cancer since early summer. I was originally diagnosed with a stage one breast cancer, non metastatic and had a very good outlook.

I finished my radiation in early September and thought I had beaten it . A few days before my last treatment I started to experience a difficulty in breathing. I was tested for Covid and thankfully that test came back negative.  I went to the hospital a few days later after no relief and was admitted for pneumonia. I was under the impression that this was only a complication from the several weeks I spent in radiation. They ran lots of tests on me and discovered I had small cell carcinoma that was not related to the breast cancer. A liver biopsy proved it’s origin was in the lung and is stage 4 and metastatic. With that said, and after people read up on small cell carcinoma, the facts are that this cancer will not be a battle I can win. With my loving friends and family I am being greatly taken care of. I have everything in my home I can need to be comfortable and plan on spending all the time I can enjoying what is left .

My daughter Liz and my grandsons Andrew and Steven are flying home the last week of October.  We are hoping to spend a few days near the beach as a family.

I just wanted to thank everyone for your calls, cards, and words of encouragement. It’s not always easy to repeat results, outcomes or treatments, so this page is designed to help me and my caretakers with a communication chain and to send love .

Thank you all and please continue to pray for me and my family .
