Such a long time has passed by since my last update, it's almost incredible!
I successfully underwent surgery (a quadrantectomy, the least invasive type of breast cancer surgery) on January 13, 2022. From then on, a wholly different, second chapter in my health journey started, namely what I call "my post-cancer life". In my mind, it was supposed to be easier than the first part, but in fact it isn’t. The accumulated stress of the first part, together with the sudden, almost completely absence of worries, caused me a sense of exhaustion that is very hard to explain, even to myself.
The last treatment, radiation therapy, ended on April 21, 2022. After that, my husband and I took a full month off, with no specific activities. By the end of May, we felt a bit better, and we were finally able to assemble the Ikea bookshelf we had purchased back in April. Now, the room that hosts my home office looks a lot more orderly, and I am starting to think about rebuilding my professional career...
In the meantime, we are enjoying summer on the beautiful Sardinian beaches!
