Journal entry by Rhiannon Scott —
Hi,
Just wanted to provide latest update. We went to a couple of doctors appointments today. We saw mom’s Primary care provider- mom has been her patient for 20 years and she was all over her and offered any help that she can give. We also saw the infectious disease doctor and they have reset her antibiotic time line back to 6 weeks based on the surgery she had on Monday. We will stay on IV medications until the beginning of October. The doctor was pleased with the antibiotics that she is currently on and assumed that the new abscess was growing but not visible when we had the craniotomy performed. The good news is that they have not been able to grow anything from the sample that they drained on Monday. Fingers crossed that they won’t!!
We will go back the first week of October to see what’s next. We have also had to move out neuro surgeon appointment to the end of September.
Mom is still doing well with her language. The last few days she has been really tired. I think her brain is ready to heal and needs the rest to do so. We have been taking it easy and relaxing. She is doing well with the stairs even though she is still a lil weak. So for now we just continue with our therapies and work on her strength and endurance. Hopefully we have made it past the bumps and now it’s smooth sailing.
