Patricia’s Story

Site created on September 24, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.
After routine mammogram my mom was notified the radiologist found a few spots they were concerned about, which ended up requiring biopsies. On August 8, 2018, we received the news my mom has Ductal Carcinoma in situ in her right breast.
After meeting with the surgeon and weighing the options she decided to move forward with a double mastectomy.  Her journey starts today, we are at the hospital and she has been taken back for surgery.

We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  ❤️ Shannon (her oldest daughter).

Journal entry by Patty Anderson Brettschneider

Met with reconstruction surgeon Friday, he drained more fluid from my left side as drain isn't fully working.  Also was wrapped up like a mummy. With a wide ace bandage from my waist to around my neck to force the fluid to drain. Oh happy days....
Spoke with the nurse and I am going in tomorrow to leave these beautiful drains and ace bandage at the clinic!!
Can't wait.
