Pat was the definition of a friend. I met him 50 years ago when he called on me at my school district office. His knowledge of curriculum and his passion for the quality of textbooks he represented were obvious. His sense of humor and love of people quickly led to a friendship that lasted the rest of our lives. Harry and I considered Pat and Carin to be the best friends we ever had. We drifted apart and didn't see each other for years, but Pat always made it a point to keep in touch. He continued to text or call on important dates like Christmas, even as he battled the brain tumor a few years back. He considered friendship to be forever. He never forgot a friend, from his buddies from high school in San Antonio to his new breakfast bunch in later years. I will miss him forever.
