Journal entry by Ted Moeller

They call us "patients" for a reason! One week post-surgery and I'm feeling better, but there is still a long way to go. The pain is minimal, seeming to stem from the internal healing of the wound (a kind of tingling pressure that's hard to describe). I am mobile, so long as I slide my right foot along the floor in a sidling fashion. I've gotten upstairs (one tentative step at a time going up; sliding on my butt going down) twice for showers; last night actually slept in my own bed! However, I still cannot sit, stand for prolonged periods of time, or most significantly, get in or out of the recliner that has largely been my nest for 17 days. Improving by increments, gratified by the healing but wishing it would go a lot faster. We'll have a better idea of why lies ahead when I see the surgeon next Thursday.
So many cards with fond expression of thoughts and prayers on my behalf. Thank you so much. People stepping up with appreciated offers of assistance and rides--and all those volunteering to help things go smoothly at church--are truly Godsends. Like I said before, even though I've been spending a lot of time all by myself, I know I am not alone. Very blessed.
