Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  i’ve never thought the through all my heart issues and events that led to this day would I ever hear the words you have breast cancer it’s triple negative and aggressive, words I thought I’d never hear and words I never want anyone to hear on January  23rd 2019. I had had a biopsy the day before and was called less than 24 hours that my test came back positive for breast cancer. Oh well I got this I said to myself you’ve had open heart surgery several stents carotid artery surgery to heart attacks Suffering from diabetes hey what’s the worst part I’ll lose my hair and I’ll get new boobs.  ask me that again in 24 hours how I feel? What the ???  I’ve always dealt with my clients sometimes usually the first to know after the family was shaving their heads before it falls out due to chemo side effects. Oh man yeah my first thoughts no more haircolor no more cuts no more blow dry drying this hair every day, but, when  it does begin to happen to you and you’re on the other side of that chair don’t have the same thoughts do you nope sure don’t but I’d rather shave my head rock it out and let it grow back newer and fresher than ever. Hey I got some hats ill rock those two and I’ll make some things for women to put in their hats to make them feel better about losing their hair Hey god is this your plan OK good good so far. So this is the start of my journey along with my family and friends and my two dear children who are my heart and soul to kick cancers butt  to put it nicely Hope you enjoy reading my journal of my days and weeks to come And continue your prayers for my family friends my daughters and everyone who is battling cancer or any battle remember you are a warrior you are superwoman And as a wise man once said “only way to get through it is to go through it “Robby Mcbride

Journal entry by parris mcbride Gantt

All was good in the hood… Well I thought it was good Until I noticed I lost a  A lot of weight I was feeling great more active than ever and my numbers from my heart doctor were awesome. I then noticed some tenderness and pain in my breasts and some discharge. It was Christmas I didn’t want to worry anyone it had been happening for a little while I just told myself I really didn’t wanna know . I mentioned it to my sister-in-law who is a nurse and she said Paris that’s not normal please get it checked. So of course I made a doctors appointment saw my OB/GYN she thought it was just fibroid cyst’s and nothing to worry about she contributed the weight loss to the B12 shots and just being active and feeling betterSo same as I did. We still scheduled a mammogram because I had skipped one mammogram and was due for a
Mammogram. One was scheduled I was quickly Sane and told that day I needed to have a biopsy there was a place that look like Solid mass in the left breast left breast I thought my right was the one hurting oh well will take this and runI was scheduled a biopsy for the next week because I had to come off of my blood thinner to have the procedure. I waited five days when in on Wednesday had my biopsy first thing that morning I was called lesson 24 hours with the news it was breast cancer. The next days went by quickly so quickly I felt as though I was in a tornado but Toto we’re in Kansas anymoreThis just got real. I made the phone calls I need to make was quickly set up with a surgeon the nurse for the imaging center and breast cancer center at Lexington Medical Center asked me did I know a surgeon that I’d like toUse a surgeon?  I couldn’t think of one however my sister-in-law had already been talking to a surgeon she works with and we went to school with Trey craft said he would love to take my case we grew up  with Trey and his family in the church they were members and we also went to high school  he graduated with Christi My sister. I had an appointment the  very next day first thing in the morning and then  later I was seen by Dr. Wells the oncologist. Talk about a tornado,  I didnt know what was going on but I knew I was  in good hands.  Surrounded by friends and family my schedule for the next week was already planned a port would be put in lab work would be done pet scan MRI and chemo was already scheduled. I had an appointment every day for the following week and a half And I had no idea what was about to unfold.
