Mike’s Story

Site created on September 9, 2019

This site was created for our dad, husband and papa. In late August 2019, he was diagnosed with a very rare cancer called Angiosarcoma.  He had a spot removed on his chin, in the blood vessel that came back positive for cancer.  The last few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster ride for our family.  We have learned so much about this rare form of cancer in such a short amount of time. He has stayed strong and positive from the very beginning and is going to fight this with all he has! He has a great support system that will never give up on this fight with him!  We love you Mike/dad/papa with all of our hearts!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Kathy Cook

I am so happy and pleased to post a wonderful update on Mike’s health. After a long journey of 12 painful and stress filled weeks, 3 surgeries and weekly trips to Iowa City a final surgery biopsy results proved Mike does not have Angioscaroma cancer and NEVER did!!
It all started with the first surgery biopsy that was sent to 2 different labs in Minnesota. Aurora Labs in Plymouth MN and Mayo Clinic’s in Rochester MN. Unfortunately both places misdiagnosed it as AS. That’s when he was sent to Iowa City to start treatments. The original biopsy was questioned there and sarcoma specialists were brought in. After more surgeries and biopsies were performed he finally received the best news anyone could hear: NOT CANCER, a benign tumor called lymphangioma.
The Iowa City hospital doctors and staff are wonderful and worked very hard to find the correct answers for Mike and I. They will always have a special place in both our hearts.
A big thank you for all the prayers, well wishes and support from everyone. It was very much appreciated. Got both of us through a lot of hard days!!!  ❤️
