Palmer’s Story

Site created on January 10, 2021

Palmer Rhoades was trying to carry a box up our basement steps on Friday. Somehow the box started to rip and he lost his balance and fell down the last five or six steps of our house basement steps, in the process he hit his head and messed up some disc in his spinal column. He was taken to Pella hospital but then transfer to Mercy 1 and is in the Trauma ICU with a brain bleed and a spinal cord injury. He has suffered severely pain in his arms and throughout his body. The nurses have worked hard to adjust his medications for his pain but hard to get a it managed. Still working on a lot of Assessments for him at this time.

Journal entry by Sandra Rhoades

Palmer is still making gains each day. He continues to go to physical therapy. We go to his shoulder doctor and his neck doctor this week so hopefully we will have some results of how he's healing. His daughter was here this weekend for a visit and help do some sorting of his stuff. It was good to see her. I think we only have 6 doctors appointments this week between us.  Thank you for your prayers and support.
