Journal entry by Molly Barrett Palma —
Today's the day!
Barrett has really taken off with his growth and progress the past few weeks, and (a lot faster than we thought!) he is COMING HOME TODAY!
Barrett passed his car seat test last night (the nurses place babies ready to go home in a car seat for an hour and a half to make sure that they will be able to keep up their oxygen levels while in a car seat for an extended time), which was the last thing holding him back from coming home.
Daisy continues to amaze us with her progress, and she is doing a trial OFF OF OXYGEN today to see how she does! The doctors told us this morning that she will probably be heading home in a week or two, after she is able to grow a little more and work on her breathing without oxygen.
Jared and I are feeling all of the normal new parent emotions, which are amplified by the long and scary journey we've been on. I don't feel fully ready to bring him home (although I've heard this is totally normal, even with full term babies!) but I can't believe he will be with us 24/7 and we will finally be able to hold him without any wires restricting our movement.
Thank you to our amazing village who have been with us since the beginning of this journey. We wouldn't be here without the support of all of those who love us and these sweet babies!
