Dakota Ray’s Story

Site created on March 23, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. On Wednesday March 17th, 2021 a "quick" run to town became a life changing moment for Dakota when he and his motorcycle collided with a truck and trailer.  As his parents and family arrived at the hospital the prognosis from the doctor was very grim as the remainder of the healthcare team rushed him to surgery to perform an emergency craniotomy.  There are internal injuries too numerous to list, but they were secondary to the swelling on his brain that continued almost faster than they could work.  Our hope was on one moment at a time.  The days and nights have been long and filled with many saints on their knees in prayer.  Today almost a week later Dakota has intentionally opened his eyes to his moma's voice for the very first time.  The journey before Dakota and his family is still very long, the moments and days ahead are still very crucial and there is still alot to assess as his head clears.  But no matter the journey we are certain the possibility would not be as bright as it is today without the prayers of so many and the healing power of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  Now more than ever Dakota needs each of us in his corner so we hope you will utilize this site to help us stand in the gap by signing up to visit him, posting your words of encouragement and sharing scriptures and prayer to encourage his strength.  Thank you for visiting because we could not do it without you.

Journal entry by Michelle Aarant

Family and Friends,

The last week has been a journey of prayer and faith for our family.   Today the one thing that is certain is that our God is in control and He directs every step.  Our family can not tell you how humbly appreciative we are of every person on their knees in prayer as we look to the Father for healing one day at a time.  Below are three pictures:

The first is the day after Dakota's emergency craniotomy.  His fever continued to rise with the swelling of his brain and we walked in faith trusting for one moment at a time.   On most days he was unresponsive and placed in icepacks.  You continually lifted our family up in prayer.

The second picture was taken on Tuesday.  Dakota's fever broke and after long discussion with the medical team about breathing interventions, Dakota's fever broke.  His body temperature returned to normal.  He began breathing on his own and he opened his eyes to the sound of his moma's voice.

The third picture was taken today with his eyes open while his moma was talking to him.

The journey before us is still long.  There are still many crucial moments, but we are so humbly thankful for each and every one of you and the prayers that you have lifted up.  Our Savior has moved mountains in just a few days and we are certain He has BIG plans for this young man.  Please continue to pray and know that we love you. ❤️
