Journal entry by Reba Hemminger

Amazing David Update: Yesterday David's Hospice doctor and I decided that David would do well to spend the next four days in the Hospice House so that they can monitor him more closely. I was assured that he would be coming home. I know they can't guarantee this 100%, but they are believing that he will. We will see if he needs to stay longer. I spent the night with him last night and got up early this morning to come home and get ready for work. I just couldn't bear to be away from him because we have never spent a night away from each other in our whole time together. He had a fairly good night. He was still hungry for a snack a little while after eating his supper. When I told him that his nurse was going to bring him his night time meds he said to me, "How about some night time food!" He still cracks me up with some of the things he says! He is not allowed to get out of bed because he is so weak. I'm not sure how I feel about all of this. On the one hand, I did rest well last night because the nurses came in and took care of him if he needed something, so I could get some uninterrupted sleep, but on the other hand it seems empty without him here at home. I'm glad I get to go to work today. It will be good for me. I am just trying to take one day at a time. I'm not sure how I am going to handle the future, but I know I will be okay. My heart will be forever David's and I will do my best to live each day in a way that makes him proud. If I think about it to much I will start crying again and then it feels like I will never stop. Thank you for visiting us on here  and thank you for helping me to stay strong, even when I break down. I love you all dearly. PS: A special thanks to Jane Holbrook for being the best forever friend that I could ever have. She listened to me cry so much yesterday. Thank you to my sons, Chris, Kevin and Bill for all of your love and compassion. Thank you to David's family and sweet daughter, Kelly, for being so supportive and for loving me like a part of the family. All of you make such a difference in your brother's and your Daddy's life. Thank you to my work family for being there for me and working with me. Thank You all for being my Earth Angels, who bless and strengthen David and I with your caring posts both here and on Face Book. I love you all dearly. I could not do this without each of you in my life. #Radfordst
