🫀 Heart Update 🫀

We went in for Oliver's appointment 4 months early instead of waiting a year between appointments (only for insurance purposes). It ended up being a good thing because we are back to 6 month appointments.

Most of Oliver's heart looks the same as the appointment last October. He has mild to moderate aortic valve insufficiency and reverse flow (leaking backwards). However, his aortic root and ascending aorta are more dilated than before. If these continue to stay dilated there will need to be activity restrictions (contact sports/weight lifting). In addition to this, his left ventricle is back to being mildly dilated. If this dilation continues to increase in 6 months we will be looking at either going back on medication or surgery - depending on the numbers, external symptoms, and pressure on other parts of Oliver's heart.

We hope that this is just a fluke and the pictures were taken at a different angle, resulting in higher numbers. However, Oliver's heart could easily be telling us it will need intervention soon. We will know more in December.
