Hi Oliver. I'm so glad to hear you're at--and nearly past--#12. Hooray! And hooray that you've been able to work out. 90 minutes of cardio is impressive. Phil and I are hoping you round this next curve as easily as possible. We're wishing you the best of luck and sending love to you and your family.
Sorry I did not get a chance to chat with you yesterday, Oliver. There were so many people in church, but I was so pleased that your attendance was recognized from the pulpit.
You may know that Pat and I do some work with Cornell Women's Hockey. Last night before the game, but after a very upsetting loss the night before, I spoke with a few of the team members saying to each, "You've got this." Stephanie's comment above made me think of that. Each time the player agreed with my assessment. Unbeknown to me the coach had conducted an envisioning goals activity in the locker room before the game, complete with props and a video of each goal the team had scored on this goalie in previous games. The team came out on fire and won 6-1. The night before they were in tears and crushed after outplaying the other team, but losing 2-0. Last night they were on cloud 9 after the game and we all (players, families, and fans) cheered for the freshman player who had the shortest playing time all year. but scored her first career goal on one of the best goalies in the nation, well maybe world as she is Swedish.
That is my hope for you - "You've got this!" and there will be elation all around when it is all done.
It was fantastic chatting with you and seeing you have so much energy when you were working out at the Y last week. We all send warm thoughts on this snowy day when you will have your last chemo treatment for a while.
Best wishes on your visits the 20th and 22nd. I know first-hand the frustration the peripheral neuropathy have. When I went through the bone marrow transplant that chemo wiped me out. Your endurance is outstanding even though you have good days and bad. Keep the faith.
