Bonjour mon cher Olivier,
We have been thinking of you a lot, sending all our healing thoughts and wishes! We understand that the chemo is a real but necessary assault on your body and oh so tough to indure. At the same time we are glad to hear it is doing what it is supposed to. Interesting about the medical marijuana. We can buy it here with no problem at a TOBACOO STORE (!) as long as it contains no more than 1% THC. This is what Margaux has been doing , to deal with hip pain due to oesteoarthriris. However it is pretty expensive and is not covered by our medical insurance. They sell it as 10% CBD therapeutic oil. I hope you have found what you need.
Please say hello to your mom for us. We are so happy that she is there to help you at this crucial moment.
We are keeping you in our minds and thoughts and send all our love, your Swiss Family Robinson
Hey Oliver: I hope Monday's infusion was better and that the new meds helped mitigate symptoms. Also, I hope you managed to avoid any more intimate meetings with your bedroom floor.
Really admiring your courage and honesty. It is more helpful to know everything, the good and the bad, and you are a brave person for sharing it all. Was thinking about you a lot last night during the FUSIT Exco meeting, wondering what you would say if you were there in the room. Looking forward to that happening again down the road. Sending warm thoughts your way. May the shrinkage continue!
Thanks so much for this update, Oliver. I'm so glad to see that your sense of humor and your courage are both holding up splendidly in the midst of all these "ups and downs," as you put it so mildly. Thank goodness you've made it through the treatments, the falls, and the snowstorm in one piece! Way to go! It's great news that the tumor appears to be shrinking and hasn't metastasized. Here's hoping that the next step, whatever it turns out to be, will be easier. Luckily this is a good time of year for cozying up indoors. I'm sure that your years of exercise have helped you withstand your treatment better than you would have otherwise, too.
You and your family are very much in my thoughts. Hoping for a better December for you!
Oliver,
I know you must be bracing yourself for the next chemo. I can’t imagine, but if anyone can battle all of the chemo effects - it’s you.
I’ve been getting most news from Amelia but also grateful to see your posts here. And we are thinking of you often and praying for a resounding defeat of the tumor!!
I hope the next round goes okay! It’s so good that your Mom is there with you, Cady, Peter and Amelia! Also your dad and Gretel.
As always thank you for keeping us updated. We think of you daily, sending hope for positive outcomes and easier post treatment side effects. Here’s hoping the new “meds” will bring some relief. Sending hugs to you all.
Oh Oliver,
I would love to send you some cannabis! There are a half dozen dispensaries within biking distance. Hang in there! Maybe wear your helmet to bed in case you get up to Cha Cha in the middle of the night? Hugs to you all!
I've just read your most recent post and send my very sympathetic thoughts and a virtual hug. I wonder what it will take for relatively forward -looking Ithaca to have a medical cannabis dispensary. Sounds like a good project! I'm glad the Bergen County trip went
well. I'm guessing that MSK there is probably part of what used to be Hackensack Hospital - my birth place and source of medical
care for my Mother and Grandparents many years ago. But traffic and parking no fun. Wishing you continued resilience and good rest. WS
Oliver, you are a better man than I am. I would have cried during that dangerous drive home from NJ. Keep the positive attitude. Please try to endure the treatment. Everyone is hoping you do. Kiss the kids; kiss the wife; and get high. (oops did I say that?) We are here if you need us.
