Sending love to you and Amelia and kids. From my calculations you had another dose of "ick-inducing" stuff yesterday. Hope you had some days of grace before starting all over again. Sending you both courage and strength to keep flying with the ups and downs, acknowledge what sucks, take a deep breath and move on, savoring Wonderful moments as they come and go.

Hi Oliver,
Such a shock to see you at the infusion center a few weeks ago. I was there with my husband who has also been fighting cancer. He has squamous cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer in the lymph nodes of his neck which spread from a spot he had removed from his scalp in January and spread just 2 months later. Took 3 months (several appointments and tests) to figure out that indeed the cancer had spread. There's only a 1% chance of this type of cancer spreading, and it happened to him. He had surgery in June at the Wilmont Cancer Center, URMC in Rochester. Amazing place! Five weeks later he started chemo and radiation treatments. Radiation was daily M-F, a total of 33 treatments and Chemo was tri-weekly, a total of three. He has finished and is doing well, slowly gaining back strength and energy and being able to eat. He was down to pretty much liquids the last to weeks of treatment. Having radiation on your neck/throat is the worst and he did it. I have faith that you will beat this! Stay strong and just keep fighting. I know this is difficult for your spouse as well, as it was sometimes harder on me than Gary. Like she said, you take one day at a time, some days, it's one hour at a time!! I'll be thinking of you daily and pray that your family gets through this. It's tough, but in the end, you will be tougher!! Keep the faith!!

I love your “normalcy report”! So true how simple easy things are taken for granted, and life is for many too full to know how to appreciate its preciousness!... those moments are golden nuggets that you pick at each breath of strength, making you richer by the day, not as a reward for efforts but as a gift from life.
With love from Genève

I'm thinking of you all on this warm and sunny day - knowing that our beautiful countryside here is a comfort and a joy. I'm so glad that you got to see the Tommy liftoff! A farmer/pilot friend was involved in that restoration. Soon we'l get a closer look when it moves into its new home at the History Center. Lots to look forward to, dear Oliver. Fran

It’s good to hear that you’re able to get out and have some fun. Fatigue was and is still my biggest problem. Next came nausea. Bland foods seem to help me. There are times when I don’t even want to eat anything but chicken and matzo ball soup. Call if I can help with any advice or information.

We enjoyed seeing you out and about twice last weekend and are delighted you were able to do that. Tommy was a special treat! Pacing is essential, I have learned, for all of us.
