Praise! Penny June has done so well weaning. We’ve slowly moved from 7 liters of oxygen to 5 liters. We will continue to wean as tolerated.
She is still throwing up 1-2 times during her feeds. This is still an improvement from earlier this week, but we would like it to be better. We are hoping and praying that more time with these feeds will help her stomach grow and adjust.
Mom has found her bossy pants and is now directing the decisions around weaning, feeding, and vaccines. The doctors have admitted now that mom has been right about multiple things and have acquiesced to mom’s direction. There is wisdom in listening to the people who spend 12 hours a day standing over their child, isn’t there?
She is still so happy, so engaged with us and all the NICU doctors and nurses. She’s working on smiling back at us and it is fuel to her tired parents.
Ways to Pray:
- Weaning from ventilation support will go smoothly and successfully, maintaining her goal saturations of 70-85%
- That her throwing up would decrease and she would tolerate more milk
- That she would remain stable for as long as possible, so that she can grow bigger and stronger for her necessary surgery in a few months
With thankful hearts,
Jared, Bri, Lorelai, and Penelope Ogden
