Journal entry by Anna Boekhoven —
In the last year Calvin and I have reached 611 people through his CaringBridge page and have received more followers than we had anticipated. We are glad so many people have been interested in following Calvin’s journey and that we were able to raise leukemia awareness. Unfortunately, Calvin’s story is like many others here in the U.S. New cases of leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma will account for 10% of cancer diagnoses this year. That’s an estimated 174,250 people in 2018 diagnosed with a blood cancer.
If Calvin’s story made an impact on you, we want to ask you for help. We have committed to raising funds for and walking in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night walk this year. Funds raised help support the research of blood cancer treatments which will ultimately save lives.
Please join us by registering to walk and/or by making a donation to bring us a step closer to a world without blood cancers!
Check out Team Carpe Diem’s page by clicking HERE. At the bottom of the page you can join the walk with us on the night of September 22nd in Holt. Also, on the right you can chose to donate to the team or a specific member. We appreciate any support of our team, including sharing our team page!

A $30 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Calvin's site for one month. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
