Norma’s Story

Site created on February 9, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Norma was having issues with a leg ulcer and had undergone her 2nd laser surgery on Jan 26th. She was having a lot of nausea and was on antibiotics. As the week progressed she got worse and on Monday February 1 was taken to the ER and had Emergency surgery for a ruptured bowel. Norma has a long history with Diverticulosis/Diverticulitis and the antibiotics was masking the flare up until it was too late.

Due to Covid we are only allowed 1 visitor at a time from the hours of 10am to noon and 4pm to 6pm. It makes it very difficult to have good communications the the nurses and doctors.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Helen Wobig

Sorry for no updates for a few days but things are pretty stable. Mum is still dealing with headaches and high blood sugars and is on a sliding insulin scale.  Blood pressure was stable and then dropped after halving the meds so now holding all of them. PT and OT have been in for evaluations and only PT was invited back (with resistance). 🤐
Bum was getting sore so Julie ordered a gel pad that seems to be helping out. Mum and I went on a field trip today to pick up eye glasses from a location that had a full box for the Lions club and then a stop at the church. Mum didn’t get out of the car but at least she got out of the house for a bit.
We still have a long journey ahead but we are making baby steps each day.
