Today was a good day! His mucus cleared out A TON and he was more up for visitors today! We got moved out of ICU and he is officially no longer considered in critical condition!!! He is up in the pediatric wing and they have a little bit different rules. You have to be checked in at the desk, you WILL NEED your ID. They also ask that we keep the visiting to a minimum starting at 8pm and no one after 9pm (as it is a pediatric unit.)

Today was a rough day for Nolan. He had a lot of phlegm and was having a hard time getting it up. However around 2:30ish he was able to get some up and made it comfortable enough to sleep some! (Yay!!!) He did get his spinal drip out and that was the only thing keeping him in ICU hjoprfully here soon we will have a new room update! We are still in awe of the amount of love and support you all have been giving us.

I was able to have a very good visit early this morning with Nolan and Kevin. Yesterday Nolan already began his first round of physical therapy and there is a possibility that Nolan will be leaving within the week to go to a rehabilitation facility.

Here is the link to Nolan’s Caring Bridge https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/nolansprague site that has been set up by the Sprague family. If you go to the “Journal” tab you will be able to get regular updates regarding Nolan. I will continue to keep everyone informed of fundraisers and specific pieces of communication that Kevin and Carmen would like for me to share.

Reminder - This Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 pm myself and some parents will be in the senior café selling TeamNolan#34 t shirts as well as wristbands. The shirts will be $20 each and we will gladly take any donations above and beyond that. All of the money will be going directly to the Spragues. We will also be collecting gift cards to area restaurants, convenience stores, Wal Mart, etc.. to give to them. Gas cards would also be very valuable for them too. If you would like to you may also bring up bottled water,  non-perishable snack foods, and magazines for family members.

Please let me know if you have any questions or additional ideas of how to assist Nolan and his family.

Nolan’s Story

Site created on August 10, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Nolan was in a  diving/swimming accident. He was rushed to Overland Park Regional Hospital. He was taken into what ended up being about a 5-6 hour surgery to stabilize and clean up the shattered and displaced vertibraes. He is presently in the ICU where his quick witted come backs are still present Lol!!
Please write your words of prayers and encouragement here and we will share them with Nolan when the time is appropriate.
