Noah has a disease known as Scheuermann's Kyphosis. This  arises from disturbances in the normal growth and development of the spinal column during adolescent growth spurts,  which causes an abnormal wedging of the vertebrae, irregularities of the growth plates and discs between the vertebrae. The condition is painful. In Noah's case he has greater than 90 degree curvature, which the physician said could cause issues with his heart and lungs if left untreated. Noah is scheduled for surgery Tuesday June 11th at Methodist West Hospital. He will  Have hardware placed along both sides of his spinal column to correct the deformity. Surgery is expected to take approximately 5 hours. He will be inpatient 4-5 days after that. I will do my best to post updates along with when he feels he can  receive visitors. Well we had our 1st post op visit and I think Dr. was impressed with Noah’s progress. They measured him today and he is unofficially 6’3”, he was unable to stand completely straight due to muscle spasms. His restrictions remain unchanged and we go back in 4 more weeks for another recheck. So I guess we keep on keeping on and continue to heal.
