Nicole’s Story

Site created on November 14, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

On October 27th, Nikki delivered a beautiful baby ICU boy via c section. She tested positive for covid right away with minimal symptoms while in labor. Baby boy was immediately flown to Minot for pretty severe meconium aspiration and low oxygen and is currently in the NICU there. He has been doing amazing and should be able to go home any day now!

Nikki was admitted to the ICU in Williston on November 1st after battling Covid for awhile at home. She didn’t get much sleep while there and when she did, her respirations were very high so her mind and body were not able to rest.
On Friday afternoon, the 12th, she was intubated and flown out to Bismarck later that evening.
She’s currently sedated and intubated in the ICU so her mind and body can rest and her lungs can start to heal.
Thank you for all of your support and continued prayers! This is going to be a long journey ahead of us.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Janessa Skoog

Justin and Nikki and baby Jack made it safely home today after spending a few days with family in Minnesota!
We just wanted to also share that they will not be having visitors for awhile so Nikki can rest and gain some strength back. She’s doing well but is still very very weak. They do have family staying with them to help out!
I won’t be sharing any more updates on here but want to thank everyone again for all of your love and support!
