Journal entry by NIKKI HOUSER

So, I just celebrated my 46th birthday last week! Hard to believe that my mom was just one year older when cancer took her from us.

In other news, I’m having a preventative bilateral oophorectomy and salpingectomy this coming Monday, Nov 15.  To save you the online search- it’s the removal of both ovaries and Fallopian tubes. This is both because of the hormone receptor positive cancer I had and the ATM gene mutation I carry.  I am sad to be losing my eggs, but let's face it; I'm done reproducing and have been blessed with two healthy, beautiful children.

It’s a 6 week recovery- but I’ll be able to drive and go back to work (light duty) after Thanksgiving. THAT'S RIGHT...NO DRIVING FOR TWO WEEKS. The control freak in me is having a hard time with this. But, JW will be holding down the fort, with help from co-workers and friends with meals, carpooling, etc.

The only other surgery I foresee in the immediate future is fat grafting to my chest to fill in the hollow spots that (sadly) we’re not corrected with my implant exchange in September.

All is good! I have videos to share, for those of you who haven't seen them on LinkedIn.

I’ll share an update soon!
