Nicole’s Story

Site created on February 28, 2019

My beautiful sister Nicole received her much anticipated liver transplant at the UW medical hospital on March 20th in Seattle. Her journey began at age 13 when Nicole was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and our family knew that one day she would need a new liver and it has arrived.  We have been overwhelmed by the love and support given during this process as we continue to go through the emotional, physical,  (and financial) stress that coincides with the immense undertaking of this type of surgery and recovery.

In order to keep all of our wonderful family and friends updated on Nicole's progress we will be using this CaringBridge website. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Dede Fueng

Hi fellow supporters of Nicole and her family! I thought it was time to update you on what's been going on with Nic's progress; 1. She is now down to going in for clinic every other week and this may lesson if they continue to like the information the doctor's receive from her blood-work. 2. She is gaining strength and needing to use the aid of a walker less and less. 3. She is getting back to "normal" by attending family functions, going out in public (despite still needing to be cautious do to immune system being still low) and being back on full time Mom duty! 4. Lastly, I think she is most excited about being allowed to drive again.

This Friday Nicole will be getting an ultra sound done to confirm the progress of her liver's functioning so we are hoping for good news.  We are so grateful for all the progress but after her last clinic visit the nurse mentioned that if Nicole's kidney's don't fully "awaken" then there is a chance that she will also need a kidney transplant. We are all crying out NOOOOO! Please join us in prayer that her kidneys will wake up and start functioning properly with her new liver.

We love and appreciate all of your continued support through out this healing journey.
