Nick’s Story

Site created on November 16, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  Our son Nicholas was struck by a car about 8:40 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. He was crossing a very busy, dark street in Springfield, MO; he had just gotten off work. It was an accident. Luckily EMS was there in minutes and scooped him up and took him to the trauma center at Mercy Hospital.  He was in critical condition in the Neuro ICU.  He had lost his wallet the day before and had no ID on him so he was a John Doe for almost 24 hours. Thanks to the Springfield PD they were able to track him to Mom who was contacted about 2 pm Thursday and got to Springfield 3 hours later .... (who knew you could get here that fast- felt like an eternity. (Dee Stratman AKA Speed Racer)

  • Wow...  it’s hard to believe it’s been a year ago today that Nick was hit by a car.  He’s come so far.   We had a lil hiccup but he’s pulling though. Some of you don’t know, but Nicks In California getting help for his alcohol addiction.  He made arrangements through his brothers and they didn’t think it was important to let Mom know.. so after 30 hours of panic, he was found.  I’m praying that God will get a hold of him and that others who have walked through addiction will help him get on the right path.
  • So today I so thankful that He’s alive.   I’m thankful to everyone who’s helped him, prayed for him and supported him in so many ways.  I’m attaching a picture of Nick with his Brother Brandon.
  • Please continue to pray that Nick finds God and he truly wants to better his life and make good choices.
  • Thank you to all who follow his story.   May God protect all of you from this Covid mess too.
  • Love you all
