Such a beautiful spot and wonderful way to remember Nick. Thanks to Matt, Chris and the family for making this tribute work. Nick’s smile lives on in the hearts and memory of so many of us at WPD!

This is great news, Stephanie, thanks for the update. Nick would be proud indeed about the first scholarship being awarded and the bench looks beautiful xx

Thank you for this lovely post, Stephanie and Lisa! We love the inscription that y'all wrote--so thoughtful and perfect for Nick! We look forward to many visits to enjoy the park on Nick's bench in the shade of that magnificent pecan tree! So, so peaceful.

Stephanie, what a wonderful tribute, and such a great location for the bench! Miss Retta and I miss him and you everyday, and look forward to coming to Austin, taking a nice walk through the park, and enjoying some quiet, restful contemplation time on Nick's bench. And a big thank you to his friends at the WPD for pushing this through. Nick will never be forgotten, he had such a positive influence on everyone he met, far exceeding the time he got to spend with us.
