Journal entry by Niccole Branson —
Hi! Happy Sunday! I'm a little behind on my update. The end of the week I was just worn out, but I am now starting to feel better and get some energy back.
We got some good news on Friday! I'm not sure if everyone knows what a Pet Scan is, I sure didn't before this, but when you get a pet scan, they inject you with this stuff that makes the cancer cells in your body light up. Then have you go into this machine that takes pictures so the doctor can see where the cancer is located throughout your body.
The great news is my pet scan came back clean! They are only seeing the mass in my stomach! My liver is clean, lungs are clean and looks like it is a T2 cancer. So their plan is 4 rounds of chemo (once every 14days), then a break for my body to heal, then surgery. Once I have surgery there will be more chemo, maybe radiation, but the amount of that will be based on how my body reacts to everything.
My oncologist wants one more procedure to check my esophagus. He is seeing some inflamation, which he believes is just because of all the distention and acid issues from the last month of stuff going on, but wants to be safe and make sure we aren't missing anything.
So Wednesday I will be heading back to the hospital for an endoscopic ultrasound. Then my second round of chemo will be Tuesday Aug 24th!
Thank you to everyone for all your prayers and sending good vibes! It's been working! 💜
