Joseph’s Story

Site created on December 9, 2019

Hi this is our dad- Joseph Su's CaringBridge website!  Just an FYI tribute donations go to CaringBridge and not our dad.  We will use this resource to keep family and friends updated on Joe's journey to hopefully receive a new heart. We appreciate all the support and kind words. Thank you for supporting our dad :)

Journal entry by Amanda Su

On Friday May 15th our dad was discharged from the hospital!!! He was given a special send off by the numerous hospital workers who helped him on this journey. And we were finally able to hug our dad after many months away from the hospital. This moment is hard to put into words so I've linked a video of his send off here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKiKf9wYcE4&feature=youtu.be

Being home he is finally able to enjoy the sounds of nature again. While he was discharged home he still has a long road to full recovery. Since we decided rehab was not safe during this pandemic he will have full support from a new home care team. Nurses, PT/OT, and speech pathology will visit multiple times a week to help him rehabilitate and transition to life back at home. He additionally will have appointments at BWH to check his new organs regularly.

We have received an overwhelming amount of love and support from countless members of his care team at BWH as well as friends and family at home. We will be forever thankful for all the amazing healthcare workers at BWH ❤️.
