Neil’s Story

Site created on June 24, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

I'm sure you know that Dad has been a lifelong smoker and that it has taken a heavy toll on his body; he's had heart and lung issues for some time now.  In order to keep an eye on his lungs, he has had a lung CT scan every 6 months, which is pretty common these days for those at risk for lung cancer and in particular to keep an eye on nodules that have been present in his lungs for some years. He also came down  with pneumonia several times a year, so chest x-rays were done regularly as well.

It's safe to say his lungs were closely monitored--dad is great about regular doctor appointments, too.

November 2018's CT scan vs April 2019's CT scan showed a change in one of the nodules in his left lung, in the upper lobe. It had doubled in size and had irregular edges, so it was time to get things checked out.

I made an appointment with a pulmonologist at Fox Chase Cancer Center, and we got started.

We will celebrate Dad at a later date--when all can join in without the threat of COVID-19 hanging so heavily over us. Summer 2021 is the plan.
