Nedric’s Story

Site created on December 10, 2019

Nedric Jones is a dedicated father and husband. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, a local sports official and all around great guy.

On 10/25/2019, a blood clot traveled to his brain and caused a massive stroke. The clot was successfully removed but the stroke caused significant brain damage. The prognosis was dim and the next few days were critical. Thankfully, GOD began to move and Nedric started responding to medication. After spending 13 days in NICU, Nedric was transferred to a rehabilitation center so that he could begin recovery.

Currently, Ned is in rehab, taking small-- but important steps in physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. In four short weeks, Nedric has learned to walk again, feed himself and get into car. He is slowly beginning to speak again and he is trying to put sentences together. GOD shows us daily that HE is strengthening Nedric. The therapists and neurologists have said it will take about a year for Nedric to make a full recovery.  We PRAISE GOD for a positive prognosis and we are thankful for progress.

Day 2 with outpatient therapy......tackling speech today. Nedric looks good. Thankful he doesn’t look like what he has been through.

Right now he is trying to talk but the apraxia keeps him from forming words. His balance is off but he can walk with a little support. He WON’T use a walker. 🤷🏽‍♀️
