Newest Update

Journal entry by ANGELA NEWBERRY

How's it been going?

Since we made it home, I haven't updated. Here's a bit of what has been happening.
Our first major event was Zoe's graduation from high school. It was so much fun to share that milestone with her, family, and friends. We also celebrated Zoe's 18th birthday and Father's Day (both on the same day this year).

Other than that, it has been fairly uneventful. We have been trying to find our way through this experience and find our new normal (for the time being). One thing is for sure, we underestimated the time it would take for Nathan to recover from this. Doctors and therapists would say, "It will just take time." Nathan and I thought that meant a few weeks. LOL We were wrong. But, Nathan DOES improve every single day. It is just hard sometimes to see the progress when you are in it.

Zoe is enjoying her last summer at home with friends before she heads off to Texas State mid-August. Zach has been practicing his driving and will take his official driving test in September. He will also return (in person to school) as a Junior at Glenn High School. Nathan is attending therapy 4 times per week and getting ready to go back to work part time this week. As for me, I am looking for a remote job ASAP so that I can still take Nathan to his therapy as well as continue to help care for our 5 acres of property (so, if you know anyone hiring for remote positions, I may not have the right experience... but I'm super smart and have the determination to succeed!).

So, we are far from being done with this adventure. Nothing is going quite the way we had anticipated, and we just keep adjusting. That is how we will make it to the other side of this. But, all that matters is we have each other... and you, too.

Lastly, I just want to say thank you again to all of you for your help and support over the last few months. We will never be able to express how truly grateful we are for each one of you. We couldn't have made it through this without you. Hug your loved ones, and appreciate each moment.
