Natalie’s Story

Site created on July 21, 2018

Natalie Ann Holt was born on her due date on July 18th, 2018. She was 7 pounds 9 ounces.

Immediately after she was born, it was discovered that she was having a difficult time breathing. Doctors at RWMC found that she was born with a cleft palate and a smaller than normal jaw, which causes her tongue to fall back and obstruct her airway. This is known as Pierre-Robin Sequence. Natalie spent the first 6 weeks of her life in the NICU at Mayo Clinic Rochester.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lizzy Holt

Hello everyone.
It’s been a while since I posted an update. But now we have more news. Mayo Clinic just called. Natalie is scheduled for surgery to fix her palate on April 17th! We go in for her pre-op on April 16th. They’ve said the surgery is a long one, usually about 6 hours. I’ll update as I know more.
