Journal entry by Nancy Polizzi —
I'm sitting here in my bed around the same time one year ago when I received my call that they had a heart for me. Its bitter sweet for me knowing that the family of my donor is also reliving those moments from last year. There are no words that can even show my gratitude for their gift of donation. I ask that God will wrap his arms around them in comfort for their loss. I also pray that one day I will be able to wrap my arms around them and express my appreciation.
This year has been filled with tests, labs, doctors appointments and many different medications. My transplant team has been so helpful transitioning me back into regular life without the LVAD. It has all passed by so quickly for me since I was able to go back to working and enjoying friends and family events.
If you told me last year I would be feeling as good as I am now I would have not believed it. I was able to dance with my son at his wedding, jump off the pontoon boat on vacation and travel on a plane without having all my carry on items (medical equipment) wiped down as if I was smuggling drugs. To say the least Life Is Good!
I can not encourage enough to consider to donate so that through your gift someone can become healthy and live their life to the fullest. So to everyone that offered kind words, donations and encouragement over the last couple of years THANK YOU!
This next year I hope to have many journeys and experiences and enjoy every moment that God has blessed me with. I pray that anyone reading this will do the same. Take the time to enjoy the rainbows and your grandchild's laughter. I Know I will!!!
Luv Nancy
