Journal entry by Nikki Redman —
Nancy was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago. Luckily, her genetic test came back with no predisposition so it's not likely to come back. A week before her scheduled mastectomy surgery she was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma. The good news, in a way, is preparations for the mastectomy allowed doctors to discover the RCC.
She had her mastectomy today. Reconstruction is planned, but needs to be put on a short hold until the plans for handling the kidney tumor are made.
Quick and not a lot of detail because we just have many details yet. Recovery after today should be about two weeks.
