Moms story: Mom (Nancy) started her journey with cancer back in 2019. Mom was officially diagnosed with cancer in December of 2019. I (Kim) was pregnant at the time and Gabriel was expected in March of 2020. Mom started chemo and radiation in February of 2020 and completed her treatments the week Gabriel was born. After the chemo and radiation did not work I called the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for a second opinion. Mom had her first surgery with the Mayo Clinic in July of 2020. In January of 20201 we found out the cancer had returned. She then returned to the Mayo Clinic for more radiation in February of 2021. After that we were told she was in remission again. However we found out in November that the cancer had returned for round 3. We are now here at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for her second massive surgery to beat this nasty cancer.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Kim Antenucci

Good afternoon to all of Nancy’s friends and family!

I am so sorry for the lack of updates over the last week or so.

Yesterday mom decided to fight differently. The fight is no longer to cure the cancer as that is no longer an option. When we got to the hospital we were presented with two paths. One to treat with chemo and maybe get a couple extra months but this option came with a cost of sickness and being in and out of the hospital. It also had a risk of taking time away rather than adding time. The second path was to discontinue treatment and choose comfort and quality for her remaining time with us.

Mom started comfort care hospice yesterday. Her wish is to leave the hospital and so our fight right now is to find mom, with the help of hospice, the perfect comfort care home. Where she can be comfortable being surrounded by friends and family everyday.

Dad, Jason, Nikki and I are of course so grateful for everyone’s continued prayers and support during this transition. I will continue to update as new information arises.

With much gratitude, Kimmy ❤️❤️❤️
