Welcome to Nancy Darda's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  Nan recently learned that she has Stage 3 breast cancer.  She is receiving excellent care at Carle Cancer Center in Champaign, Illinois.  She will have 4 chemotherapy treatments, 2 weeks apart, and then surgery.  Her first chemotherapy treatment was on December 15th.    She would love to have you leave messages on this Caring Bridge site if you wish.  Nan appreciates your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time.

Nan passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 9.  Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 15 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.  A reception will be held immediately following at The Abbey, 202 S. Broad Street in Hillsboro.

 

Nancy Ellen Darda, 61, of Danville, previously of Champaign, died at 4:38 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at her residence in Danville.

Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, with Rev. Stefan Munker, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Ms. Darda was born on March 11, 1961, in Hillsboro, to the late Jerry Darda and Ruth Ellen (Meyer) Darda. She was a 1979 graduate of Hillsboro High School and went on to Eastern Illinois University to attain her bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy. Ms. Darda had recently retired from the Champaign School District where she worked as an after school program instructor. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. In her spare time, she loved crafting and riding her bicycle.

Ms. Darda is survived by her brother, David (wife, Patty) Darda of Ellensburg, WA; nand nephews, Joe (wife, Samantha) Darda, Zack Darda and Sam Darda; and her aunt, Betty Darda of Hillsboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
