Nancy’s Story

Site created on October 8, 2021

I was diagnosed with Breast cancer in September.  Though this news took us by surprise, we are very optimistic and believe God will be with us every step of the way, carrying our family through whatever comes next.   The good news is that it looks like we caught it early, Stage I, and out of all of the types of breast cancer out there I have the best and most treatable kind (double positive for feeding on estrogen & progesterone hormones).  I am scheduled to have a lumpectomy on Oct 12.  We will know much more about my treatment regimen after the surgery.  We know my treatment will definitely include radiation and hormone therapy, maybe chemo but that will be determined after speaking with an oncologist post surgery.  I’ve spent a lot of time praying, crying and thinking through all of this and I’m in a good place.  Overwhelmed, but a good place.  And I wish now more than ever, to reconnect with all my loved ones.

As you saw in Buck's post, I rang another bell.  I cried like a baby but this time I left the eyeliner at home!  Buck and I celebrated by having lunch at another favorite, Old 41 Restaurant.
