Morgan’s Story

Site created on October 29, 2019

Hey everyone! As you know, Morgan will be having a double mastectomy on November 5th. The recovery process for this is long and hard, and it will really take a village. Here I (Alyssa) am going to try and organize what she and her family need as the recovery process begins. Please please volunteer to help in anyway you can- be it a meal, walking her dogs, or just sitting and keeping Morg company.

I only have 2 drains left - hoping they will be removed on Tuesday during my second follow up appt.
Pathology came back from the masses & tissues removed during surgery - everything was benign *yayyyy* so no further treatment is needed in the breast center.
Hopefully once the last 2 drains are out I will be able to start PT. We're still waiting to see what the timeline will be with Expanders as the incisions heal (& hopefully close up).
The past few days I've been able to see/snuggle with our pups with lots of caution which has been super nice. They don't quite understand what the do's/don'ts are (well, because they're dogs & they just know I'm hurting). We've also been able to be out & about a little more - small car rides & errands but still equally lots of rest.
For being only 12 days post op I think we're looking pretty good. As far as I know, no infections (they give you a TON of antibiotics for this procedure) or complications thus far. Still on restrictions as far as lifting, driving, etc. My expanders also limit how much movement/mobility I have in my upper body.

So far, so good 😊
